Nutritional Smoothies
Many people and clients have asked me about juices and green smoothies. Which is better for you? The fact is the more nutrients that you can get into your body the better, however, not everyone has a juicer. If you add greens and vegetables to your smoothie, then you ARE actually juicing. The difference here is that you are ingesting the fiber, which is not included when you juice directly with a juicer. The other issue is that juices are very high in sugar and without the fiber, it is released into your bloodstream very quickly, which can be a concern for those with hypoglycemia or diabetes. For this reason I personally prefer smoothies. The other reason that I really enjoy them is that I can personally add other nutrients to my smoothie like MSM, flax seeds, coconut oil, blue green algae, pumpkin seeds and of course my favorite blueberries.....the list goes on. So I thought that I would give you some ideas of some nutrients that you can add to your smoothie if you want to. You can also juice just vegetables like cucumber, celery, parsley etc...just by adding some extra water and you don't have to add extra nutrients to them if you don't want to. The great thing is the preference is yours and there is no right or wrong to creating these beautiful elixirs for yourself. There are lots of great resources and specific recipes available and great names that promote healthy green smoothies. Some of these people that I love are David Wolfe, Kris Carr, Dashama, Brigitte Mars, Rainbeau Mars, Kimberly Snyder and Tera Warner. Use your intuition to help create some of the most luxuriating beauty and health elixirs that you could possibly dream of. Your body, mind and spirit will thank you!

Nutritional Smoothie Ingredients
Fruit♥
Blueberries are high in antioxidants and flavinoids such as
anthocyanodin, helping to strengthen the capillary walls, collagen
promoting and increasing the integrity of the veins. They help increase
circulation to the eyes, helping allay ocular disease and imbalance.
They support the pancreas as well because they contain Myrtillin, which
helps to lower blood sugar, thus being helpful in support of diabetes.
Other choices may be bananas, apples, mango,
pineapple.......Fruit with the lowest glycemic index are berries!
Fats♥
Healthy fats are vital for brain functioning, hormonal secretions, joint
lubrication, anti-aging, hair, skin and nails. I am attracted to
Coconut Oil and sometimes even fish oil. Avocados are a great healthy
fat and add a smooth creamy texture when blended. Flax seed oil or hemp
oil are other positive choices!
Fiber♥
Fibrous plant sources, such as Flax seeds. This plant contains essential
fatty acids and is very high in fiber. Cleansing to the intestinal
system, helping to remove old debris in the colon. Other sources may be
Hemp seeds or Chia seeds and these fit into the essential fatty acid
category too! I like to use pumpkin seeds because they are high in
zinc, fiber and are anti-parasitic.
Greens♥
My body loves blue green algae, which is extremely high in all
nutrients. Being very high in chlorophyll, it is detoxifying to the
blood and the body and helps the PH to become alkaline. Other sources
may be Spirulina, Chorella or Kelp. Spinach, Kale, Lettuce, Parsley,
Celery, Cucumbers and oh so many more!
Wild Herbs And Cultivated Herbs♥
Dandelion, Violet, Chickweed, Watercress, Nettles, Lambs Quarter's,
Purslane, Mints, Alfalfa, Mallow, Plantain, Amaranth, Lemon Balm,
Parsley, Cilantro...
Flowers♥
Roses, Lavender, Sunflower, Red Clover, Calendula, Violets,
Pansies or Hollyhocks...the list goes on......Be inspired!
