Remedies For Allergens
© Anne Calzada Herbalist

Spring is the time that the Earth is reborn. In this process beautiful pollens and spores are released and plants and trees are born! Sometimes people can have reactions to these substances. The plants and information given here is meant to strengthen your immune response to such “allergens”. Allergic reactions are the immune system protecting you from the allergen.
 Do not forget
about the role of parasites and undigested matter in the colon area. The ability of the liver to properly eliminate toxins. The kidneys ability to cleanse the blood. Chemicals and metals can be an underlying cause of allergic reaction and response. Acidophilus supplementation is beneficial in strengthening immune response. 1000 mg daily of Vitamin C with Rosehips are great! Quercetin is anti inflammatory.
Healthy prevention.

Lemon H20
In the morning, upon awakening, having a hot glass of water will help your digestive fire to strengthen, this includes your liver and gallbladder. This will result in being able to process food and substance. If you want you could add freshly squeezed lemon to it. Drink freshly squeezed lemon or lime juice in your water all day.

Neti Pot
In Ayurveda, we use a neti pot to cleanse and lubricate the sinuses with a salt water rinse. They are helpful in removing allergens from the mucus membranes gently and naturally. Use warm water with a pinch of sea salt in it. To use a neti pot, add the water solution to the neti pot. Prepare to breathe through your mouth. Over a sink, pour the solution through your left nostril and let it drain out of the right nostril.

Oiling
You can oil the inside of your nose and the corners of your eyes in the morning after you oil and moisturize the rest of your body. The oil will lubricate and moisten the sensitive mucus membranes in your nasal passages. Coconut is an excellent choice.

Pranayama
Conscious focused breathing practice in yoga. There are many different pranayamas. Do not ever force your breathing, just do the best you can. Move on to what feels good to you! Pranayama changes your chemistry very quickly. If you ever feel dizzy or uncomfortable, you should stop. Please follow your own intuition and the intuition of your body.

Nadis Pranayama
Sit in an upright seated position or easy pose or Sukhasana. Use your left thumb to close off the left nostril. Exhale completely out of the right nostril. Inhale through the right nostril and use the left index finger to close the right nostril and exhales through the left nostril. Continue alternating.
It will strengthen the nasal passages, balance the hemispheres of the brain and thus induce calm and balance.

Breath Of Fire
Sit in Virasana or on knees and feel free to sit on a block or a rolled up blanket underneath you to be comfortable. Then clasp hands and raise up to the ceiling with both index fingers pointed up. Inhale and exhale rapidly through the nose and pump at the navel center. This is your power center, the 3rd chakra. You will strengthen your entire physical and auric vibration with breath of fire. Strengthened sinus and lungs and belly of course!

8 Part Breath
Sniff in through your nose 8 breaths and on the 8th breath hold comfortably as long as you can. Then sniff 8 breaths out of your nose. This practice will strengthen your sinus, brain, respiratory system and energetic vibration.

Acupressure
To help calm allergic reactions, apply pressure at the center of the webbing of your hand between the thumb and index finger for a few minutes.

Cleansing Internally And Externally
I believe that supplementing with acidophoulus will help with histamine release in the intestines. Chlorophyll, which is plant blood, cleanses our blood and renews our strength. Plants help to remove chemicals and metals from our bodies. Eat them. Juice them. Smoothies. Infusions. Eat weeds, they are free and powerful and we need to respect them!

Taking aromatherapy baths and sea salt baths will help to detoxify your body, mind and spirit of physical and psychic accumulations.
